Kingsmill Championship Preview & Pairings

After a one-week break, the LPGA tour resumes its schedule with the playing of the Kingsmill Championship. This is tournament number 19 of 27 on this year's schedule. This tournament was last played in 2009.

Here are some details:

Course:  Kingsmill Resort, River Course
Location:  Williamsburg, Virginia
Defending Champion:  Cristie Kerr (2009)
Winning Score:   66-63-66-70 = 268 (-16)

Final Field:  144 players
Par:  36/35 = 71
Yardage:  (Information not yet available)
Purse: $1,300,000

This will be the weakest field of the season, as most of the non-US stars have decided to sit it out. My strength of field rating is just 46%. The big names sitting it out this week include: Yani Tseng, Inbee Park, Shanshan Feng, Na Yeon Choi, Suzanne Pettersen, Amy Yang, I.K. Kim, Karrie Webb, Eun-Hee Ji, Jenny Shin, Laura Davies, and So Yeon Ryu. The only notable American not playing is Jessica Korda.

Here are the pairings for the first 2 days.

Predicting a top 12 out of this field with so many missing players will be difficult, but here are my picks.
1- Stacy Lewis
2- Ai Miyazato
3- Cristie Kerr
4- Jiyai Shin
5- Azahara Munoz
6- Sydnee Michaels
7- Mika Miyazato
8- Angela Stanford
9- Hee Kyung Seo
10-Brittany Lincicome
11-Paula Creamer
12-Sandra Gal

Here are the television times:
Sep 6 - GC 12:30 PM-2:30 PM EST
Sep 7 - GC 12:30 PM-2:30 PM EST
Sep 8 - GC 12:00 PM-3:30 PM EST
Sep 9 - GC 2:00 PM-5:00 PM EST

Other Tidbits:
In case you missed the The Constructivist's blog from a few days ago, the first round of LPGA Q-School begins tomorrow. 240 players will be trying to score low enough to make it to phase 2. There will be a cut after round two, and only the top 70 players will move on to day three. At the completion of the 4th and final round, the top 60 players will move on to phase two on October 9th. Some of the bigger names that will be teeing it up in phase one include: Cheyenne Woods, Moriya Jutanugarn, Jaye Marie Green, Brooke Pancake, Austin Ernst, and Emily Talley.

Hard-to-believe fact of the week:
It seems like only yesterday that I was invited to start writing for Mostly Harmless. This is the 100th article that I have written. My main objective has always been to promote the LPGA and its wonderful and talented players. I work very hard to try to keep everyone informed with the latest LPGA statistics. I really have enjoyed doing this and I hope you have enjoyed reading it.

Update 1 - 9/5/12 5:20 PM - In a shocker, Cheyenne Woods missed the cut in the first round of Q-School. I guess it's on to the Symetra Tour for her next year.
