Stage II LPGA Q-School Day 1: Brogan McKinnon Fires 66 to Take 3-Shot Lead

Interesting scores from the 1st day of the 2nd stage of LPGA Q-School today!  Brogan McKinnon, whose best finish was T14 in her rookie season on the Symetra Tour this year, fired a 66 to take a 3-shot lead on Celine Herbin and Fabiola Arriaga.  Let's review how my top-ranked players in the field fared today:

Top Prospects
  • Minjee Lee 72
  • Ariya Jutanugarn 73
  • Mamiko Higa 74
  • Stephanie Meadow 71
  • Nontaya Srisawang 72
  • Alison Lee 71
  • Annie Park 70
  • Su-Hyun Oh 72

Great Bets
  • Emily Tubert 76
  • Cheyenne Woods 74
  • Grace Na 71
  • Laetitia Beck 77
  • Sophia Popov 71
  • SooBin Kim 75
  • Simin Feng 73
Good Shots
  • Valentine Derrey 73
  • Camilla Lennarth 71
  • Kylie Walker 75
  • Stephanie Na 81
  • Holly Clyburn DQ
  • Haruka Morita (Wanyao Lu) 71
  • Chirapat Jao-Javanil 72
  • Ginger Howard 72
  • Yu Liu 77
  • Therese Koelbaek 72
Let's see who among them puts the pedal to the metal tomorrow.  With only 3 players below 70, 27 players under par, and 50 at par or better, getting back to or under par will be a big priority for those who got off to rough or slow starts today.

Not a good start for our hope Liv Cheng. Do you know why the DQ for Holly Clyburn? I guess that means it's back to the LET for her now. I'm still hoping Cheyenne Woods makes it but she has not started well either. I see she is down to play in the South African Women’s Open in 2 weeks. Were also not going well in the World Junior Girls Championship in Canada.

So Have I got this right.. Holly is disqualified when her marker refuses to sign her card and stormed out of scorers tent in a rant after playing bad. Holly signed her card gave it to her to sign but she never did. DQ for that surely not.
