We will get a clearer picture of who will be at the Int Crown early April but as it presently stands world #2 Suzann Pettersen,Norway world #4 Lydia Ko New Zealand and world # 6 Shanshan Feng China all won't be there. Three of the hottest LPGA golfers to finish 2013. While rankings can change fast and match play can bring some unexpected results it looks a 2 horse race, South Korea v USA. Perhaps the 8th team should be a Rolex International(best of the rest) which on current rankings would be Suzann Petterson(2)Lydia Ko(4)Shanshan Feng(6)Karrie Webb(8) but we will have to wait to see how this inaugural tournament goes and the international interest.Colin N.Znoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1198629951037494295.post-79726643850489262072013-12-30T06:38:46.555-05:002013-12-30T06:38:46.555-05:00Thanks, Colin! So I'd say you're right that she's already been giving back, spotlight-wise, for years.... Glad to hear she's in the NZ Women's Open and will continue to do so. (I'm guessing the Intl Crown will bring a number of good players from many tours to it in search of Rolex points. Am I right?)The Constructivisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07242149985581771922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1198629951037494295.post-53361078054060392892013-12-29T18:39:31.422-05:002013-12-29T18:39:31.422-05:00Thanks Bruce for all your informative blogs throug...Thanks Bruce for all your informative blogs throughout 2013 and looking forward to the 2014 season. So far I have refrained from making comment on the Lydia Ko saga. Obviously a touchy subject here still at the moment. I see Lydia’s and Guy’s twitter accounts have now stopped with any news. Perhaps we need a Tiffany Joh You Tube video to break the ice!! From my point of view with Guy’s coaching ability I feel it would be selfish of her to have taken him away from the N.Z Institute of Golf where he will be of far more benefit bringing more young golfers to the professional ranks than the need to have him with her on tour. I’m thinking International Crown where Lydia needs support to compete there. It seems strange to me that here we have made millionaires out of other top sportsmen and woman and some coaches along with knighthoods, rugby, cricket and yachting come to mind yet they contribute very little back to the public except the enjoyment of watching them represent N.Z. This is all without question of those who coached them through their junior amateur years so why should Lydia’s situation be any different. She has committed to playing here in the ISPS Handa NZ Women's Open which is not a LPGA tour event and with continued success will bring more top LPGA players and media attention to this event. This is where she pays back to N.Z golf like any other sport. I am sure if we all get behind her here and keep her committed to N.Z we will be rewarded. With continued success Guy will also benefit one way or another and if we don’t scare her off before the 2016 Olympics we may see Guy there with her in Rio. Hopefully this coaching switch will become a non issue. To Guy stick in there mate and keep up the good work. Sir Guy Wilson? To IMG it would be wise not to underestimate the value of her fan base here in N.Z. Sure in South Korea women’s golf is immensely popular and there are more endorsement opportunities but that has to be split between 4 players in the top 10 and 41 players in the top 100. Lydia has N.Z to herself. Finally to Lydia all the best in 2014 I’m sure like me still a proud Kiwi. Go Ko!!Colin N.Znoreply@blogger.com
