Carrollton, TX, U.S. Women's Open Sectional Qualifier: Jaye Marie Green In, Ariya Jutanugarn Out

Jaye Marie Green must love qualifiers.  After breaking every record at LPGA Q-School last year, she hasn't done much as an LPGA member, but she just made medalist at the Carrollton, TX, U.S. Women's Open Sectional Qualifier at Honors Golf Club.  Her 69-69 total put her 1 shot ahead of Maria Hernandez, 2 ahead of Belen Mozo, and 3 ahead of Katie Burnett and Lisa McCloskey.  They all are in the Open, while Ashleigh Simon is the 1st alternate and Hannah Jun the 2nd.

Among the many who failed to make it to Pinehurst, perhaps the biggest surprise was Ariya Jutanugarn, although Thidapa Suwannapura has also been playing pretty solid golf in 2014.  Others you may have heard of include Ryann O'Toole, Vicky Hurst, Silvia Cavalleri, Paola Moreno, Giulia Molinaro, Caroline Westrup, Alejandra Llaneza, Jamie Hullett, and Megan Grehan.  Emily Campbell was low amateur at +7, but she didn't come close to making it.  Still, she avoided blowing up, as many of her peers did.

Congrats to the qualifiers and condolences to those who missed out.  Speaking of missing out, I wrote this at 10 pm last night and the USGA site still didn't have the results.

If a player fails to qualify at one site, are they allowed to try again at a future site?
