News Flash: Golfweek Ranks Cristie Kerr #1

The Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index just put Cristie Kerr at #1, barely ahead of Lorena Ochoa and Paula Creamer. I think that Kerr's record over the previous 52 weeks justifies this ranking. What about you?

[Update 1 (8/21/09, 5:30 pm): Heh, I beat Golf Babes to the punch by a few days. But guess who will get more page views? Hint: it's the blog with the visuals.]

Do you think if this index included the KLPGA Jiyai would be #1?

Yes. And Hee Kyung Seo and So Yeon Ryu might well be in the top 10.

Kerr's ranking #1 over the last 52 weeks is very understandable. She'd be #1 in my rankings now if I only considered 2009 results (despite one win vs. Lorena's two).

Kerr was in danger of missing the $1M mark halfway through last season, but she really poured it on and has kept it going all this season (unlike Katherine Hull and Angela Stanford, who haven't been as consistently excellent). I'd say it's not just a hot streak--it's a quantum leap.
