With the LPGA first Asian swing now completed here are some of my thoughts:
The good news is the courses just played in Thailand and Singapore are truly among the best courses we will see all year. They are extremely scenic and provide a true test of championship golf. I've always believed that the very best golfers will always rise to the top on the most difficult courses and that is what we saw the last 2 weeks.
The bad news is that we have to wait until March 18th before the next LPGA event.
After 2 events my choice of most disappointing golfer so far goes to Inbee Park, whose best finish was tied for 40th. She noses out Angela Stanford.
My biggest surprise goes to Catriona Matthew with two 8th-place finishes. Honorable mention goes to Ariya Jutanugarn who finished tied for 8th in Thailand.
Only 4 players finished in the top 10 in both events. Matthew, Yani Tseng, Karrie Webb and I.K. Kim.
The best rookie finish so far goes to Hee Kyung Seo for her 21st place finish in Singapore.
The following players have succeeded in getting themselves into the Titleholders Championship:
Yani Tseng, Michelle Wie, Karrie Webb,Chie Arimura, Na Yeon Choi, Sun Young Yoo, and Morgan Pressel.
Based on my system, the top 10 for player of the year to date are as follows:
1 -Karrie Webb 39.74 points
2 -Yani Tseng 39.32
3 -I.K. Kim 22.74
4- Catriona Matthew 18.66
5- Amy Yang 17.38
6- Sun Young Yoo 16.86
7- Na Yeon Choi 15.50
8- Chie Arimura 13.60
9- Suzanne Petterson 13.32
10-Michelle Wie 13.20
In case you are wondering why Webb is ranked higher than Yani when they both have a first and a third place finish, more points were awarded for top 20 finishers of the HSBC because of a slightly stronger strength of field.
My hard to believe fact of the week:
Brittany Lang has teed it up in 131 tournaments to date...and has never won.

Spot on, Tony. My only difference would be most disappointing, and I think you can guess who I believe fits that statement. My favorite girl Amanda scares me with the roller-coaster rounds. But I certainly have no intention of deserting her. Cheers!
Hey Glen, always good to hear from you. I picked Inbee because our expectations for her, ranked #13 in the world, are much higher than Amanda's who currently is ranked #81. As we both know it has been a tough adjustment for Miss Blumenherst both inside and outside the ropes. The talent is there, it's just a matter of time.
Correction on the 3rd person that got into the titleholders tournament. Chie Arimura who finished in 2nd place did NOT get a spot as she is not a member of the LPGA. The spot instead went to the 6th place finisher Na Yeon Choi.
Asian courses are very short and rely on very fast and undulating greens, as the main difficulties. As the result the entire tournament is a putting contest, not want we want to see. The course setups need to be longer with more rough to minimize ensure that impact of of modern hybrids clubs. When short hitters can reach par 5 in two we have a serious problem.
