Resort Trust Ladies Sunday: Jeon Does It!

Mi-Jeong Jeon got her 1st win of the season at the Resort Trust Ladies JLPGA event in convincing fashion, shooting her 3rd straight round in the 60s and beating Sakura Yokomine by 3 shots. Thanks to 2nd-round leader Miki Saiki's Sunday collapse--she shot a birdie-free 75 and saw a 1-shot lead become a 3-shot deficit by the end of the front 9--Jeon's nearest competitor at the turn was Yokomine, who cut the deficit to 2 by eagling the par-5 8th as Jeon birdied it. Jeon extended it to 4 over the next 4 holes by making 3 birdies and halving the 1 hole she did bogey in that stretch, but Yokomine did her best to make the finish interesting by going birdie-double-birdie-bogey-birdie while Jeon made nothing but pars and 1 bogey coming down the stretch. Still, it was Jeon who kept the new-winner-each-week streak alive on the JLPGA's 2008 season, rather than her higher-ranked opponents.

Here are the results:

1st/-12 Jeon (68-67-69)
2nd/-9 Yokomine (68-70-69)
T3/-8 Ji-Hee Lee (70-70-68), Esther Lee (69-70-69)
5th/-7 Saiki (68-66-75)
T6/-6 Akiko Fukushima (72-71-65), Hiromi Mogi (69-68-73)
8th/-5 Chie Arimura (71-71-69)
T9/-4 Yuki Ichinose (72-70-70), Mie Nakata (72-68-72)

T11/-3 Eun-A Lim (70-71-72), Maiko Wakabayashi (70-71-72), Akane Iijima (70-70-73), Kaori Higo (66-72-75)
T16/-2 Ayako Uehara (70-73-71), Yukari Baba (72-70-72)
T20/-1 Shinobu Moromizato (72-74-69), Shiho Oyama (74-70-71), Midori Yoneyama (73-70-72), Miho Koga (71-71-73), Yuko Mitsuka (71-71-73)

T33/+1 Na Zhang (70-74-73)
T36/+2 Ritsuko Ryu (73-68-77)
T45/+5 Yui Kawahara (72-71-78)

Here's how the money list looks now:

1. Akiko Fukushima ¥48.43M
2. Ji-Hee Lee ¥42.25M
3. Miho Koga ¥41.39M
4. Sakura Yokomine ¥40.84M
5. Yukari Baba ¥34.41M
6. Eun-A Lim ¥33.48M
7. Miki Saiki ¥32.47M
8. Bo-Bae Song ¥31.46M
9. Ayako Uehara ¥30.81M
10. Mi-Jeong Jeon ¥28.80M

You can tell how well Yokomine and Saiki have been playing all year because they're the only ones in the top 10 without a win--in fact, they're the only ones in the top 13 without one!
