It would be fitting if the JLPGA's leading career money winner broke the 1 billion yen barrier by becoming the 1st player in 2008 to win twice on tour, wouldn't it? Yuri Fudoh seems to think so, as her 68 brought her to -7 and a 1-shot lead over Hyun-Ju Shin (wh shot a bogey-free 69) and Saiki Fujita (70) in the 2nd round of the Meiji Chocolate Cup. But anything can happen in the final round, as the top of the leaderboard is crowded and bunched:
1st/-7 Fudoh (69-68)
T2/-6 Shin (69-69), Fujita (68-70)
4th/-5 Tomoko Kusakabe (70-69)
T5/-4 Erina Hara (70-70), Ji-Woo Lee (68-72)
7th/-3 Makoto Takemura (74-67) [amateur]
T8/-2 So-Hee Kim (73-69), Hiromi Takesue (72-70), Yuko Mitsuka (71-71), Akiko Fukushima (71-71)
Still lurking are a number of players with the ability to go low Sunday:
T12/-1 Mi-Jeong Jeon (74-69), Yuki Ichinose (71-72)
T18/E Miki Saiki (71-73), Mayu Hattori (69-75)
T24/+1 Sakura Yokomine (74-71), Akane Iijima (73-72), Shiho Oyama (73-72), Ayako Uehara (72-73), Yukari Baba (72-73), Chie Arimura (70-75)
A few, however, were a bit lucky to make the cut:
T44/+4 Yun-Jye Wei (75-73)
T50/+5 Midori Yoneyama (76-73), Miho Koga (73-76)
But several did miss it:
T59/+6 Esther Lee (76-74), Shinobu Moromizato (75-75)
T66/+7 Ritsuko Ryu (74-77)
Will this turn into a 2-player race between the 2 players at the top of the leaderboard looking for their 2nd win of 2008, or will someone else get their 1st win of the season once again?
