I didn't think anything could top the end of the LPGA's 2009, weather-wise, as heavy rains played havoc with both the LPGA Tour Championship in Houston and their Q-School in Daytona Beach. But how about the rains in Spain being supplemented by snow, pushing round 2 of the LET's Q-School back a day? With frigid morning temperatures topped off by a delightful wind chill, scores were high for almost everyone when they did finally get around to golf again:
1st/-7 Maria Jose Uribe (69-70)
3rd/-5 Kristie Smith (71-70)
T4/-4 Hannah Jun (69-74)
T11/-2 Diana D'Alessio (73-71), Pernilla Lindberg (66-78)
T25/E Dewi Claire Schreefel (71-75), Maria Hernandez Munoz (69-77)
T29/+1 Mallory Blackwelder (73-74), Jeehae Lee (71-76), Alison Walshe (68-79)
T42/+3 Stephanie Na (73-76)
T52/+5 Mollie Fankhauser (76-75), Miriam Nagl (72-79)
T61/+7 Kim Welch (73-80)
Then they went right back out again, with much better results, for the most part. Here's where everyone I'm following stood when play was stopped Sunday due to darkness:
1st/-11 Hannah Jun (-7 through 15)
T3/-7 Kristie Smith (-2 through 9), Maria Jose Uribe (E through 9)
T9/-3 Dewi Claire Schreefel (-3 through 9)
T13/-1 Alison Walshe (-2 through 15), Jeehae Lee (-2 through 9)
T21/E Pernilla Lindberg (+2 through 9), Diana D'Alessio (+2 through 9)
T29/+2 Maria Hernandez Munoz (+2 through 12), Mallory Blackwelder (+1 through 9)
T43/+4 Miriam Nagl (-1 through 9)
T51/+6 Kim Welch (-1 through 9), Mollie Fankhauser (+1 through 9)
T66/+11 Stephanie Na (+8 through 9)
Given that 6 players haven't even started their 3rd rounds yet, it's going to be a long Monday in Murcia. The cut will be made to the top 50 and ties after 54 holes. Then everyone still in will be shooting for the top 30 over the final 18 holes. Here's hoping they don't have to carry play over to Tuesday!

Playoff Tuesday morning to round out the Top 30. This from the LET website:
"Further down the leader board, five players tied for 29th place at two over par and will compete in a play-off for two spots at 9am on Tuesday morning.
Holly Aitchison, Antonella Cvitan, Julie Tvede, Cassandra Kirkland and Mollie Fankhauser are chasing the remaining two places inside the top 30 that will receive category 8 membership of the Ladies European Tour, while players in positions 31-52 will earn membership in category 10a."

Brutal finish for Kim Welch, similar to LPGA Q School where she faltered with a closing 75. Welch fought back from her second round 80 to be within the Top 30 with 3 holes to play. It was a shutgun start, necessitated by the weather problems. Welch double bogeyed a short par 4 to finish at +3, one shot outside the playoff. Now she has partial status on both the LPGA and LET, which probably means she'll be based on the Futures Tour again.
Ouch for Welch. I was glad to see I didn't totally jinx Lindberg after my 1st post....
