Hisako Higuchi Morinaga Weider Ladies Sunday: Bo-Mee Lee Wins Going Away

Bo-Mee Lee made 4 birdies on the front and 3 on the back in the final round of the Hisako Higuchi Morinaga Weider Ladies to win going away.  Her bogey-free 65 left her 5 shots ahead of Sun-Ju Ahn, 6 away from Shanshan Feng, and 7-up on Ji-Yai Shin, 20-year-old Ayaka Watanabe, and Yuko Fukuda (who closed with a 65 of her own).  With her 2nd win of 2013 and 5th in 2 seasons on the JLPGA, Lee moves into 6th on the JLPGA money list, within hailing distance of Rikako Morita and Sakura Yokomine, who both finished well back in the pack, as did Mika Miyazato and Momoko Ueda.  She also continues the South Korean resurgence on the JLPGA during which they have won 5 of the last 8 events on tour and been denied only by Miyazato and Yokomine.

So here's how the list looks now, with only 4 tournaments remaining on the 2013 schedule:

The top 50 keep their cards for 2014, so it's worth noting that Ayako Uehara is at #51, Ji-Yai Shin at #54, Momoko Ueda at #55, Yuko Mitsuka at #61, Bo-Bae Song at #66, Li-Ying Ye at #68, Shinobu Moromizato at #70, Hyun-Ju Shin at #71, Ai Miyazato at #79 (in only 2 starts), and Chie Arimura at #122 (in only 3 starts).

Next up is the Mizuno Classic, where Stacy Lewis will attempt to defend her title.  The last player to successfully do this, Ji-Yai Shin, is in the field, as are all the LPGA's top rookies and 4 of the top 5 on the JLPGA money list.  Yet today's winner Bo-Mee Lee, who shot a 64 in the 2nd round of the 2012 Mizuno Classic but got beat by Lewis's own final-round 64, is skipping this year's tournament, as are Ai Miyazato, Sun-Ju Ahn, Mamiko Higa, and Natsuka Hori (along with Inbee Park and Suzann Pettersen)--and 2-time winner Momoko Ueda is 3rd alternate.

[Update 1 (11:44 am):  Lee is getting the full Golf Babes and Fairways and Forehands treatment!]
