Stage II LPGA Q-School Day 3: Su-Hyun Oh and Alison Lee Catch Ginger Howard at -8

The cream continues to rise at LPGA Q-School's Stage II.  On Day 3 of 4, Su-Hyun Oh and Alison Lee fired 66s to catch Ginger Howard (69) at -8.  Brogan McKinnon, who led the 1st 2 days, fell back to T16 with a not-unexpected 78 that left her 7 shots off the pace.  Here's how my notables stand with 18 holes left to play:

Top Prospects
  • Minjee Lee 72-67-74 (T8)
  • Ariya Jutanugarn 73-75-73 (T82)
  • Mamiko Higa 74-77-76 (T136)
  • Stephanie Meadow 71-73-69 (T8)
  • Nontaya Srisawang 72-73-73 (T48)
  • Alison Lee 71-71-66 (T1)
  • Annie Park 70-71-71 (T5)
  • Su-Hyun Oh 72-70-66 (T1)
Great Bets
  • Emily Tubert 76-72-73 (T82)
  • Cheyenne Woods 74-72-70 (T23)
  • Grace Na 71-79-79 (T154)
  • Laetitia Beck 77-75-71 (T100)
  • Sophia Popov 71-73-70 (T11)
  • SooBin Kim 75-74-76 (T121)
  • Simin Feng 73-72-71 (T23)
Good Shots
  • Valentine Derrey 73-73-70 (T23)
  • Camilla Lennarth 71-74-70 (T16)
  • Kylie Walker 75-70-80 (T121)
  • Stephanie Na 81-73-76 (T159)
  • Holly Clyburn DQ
  • Haruka Morita (Wanyao Lu) 71-73-73 (T36)
  • Chirapat Jao-Javanil 72-71-76 (T55)
  • Ginger Howard 72-67-69 (T1)
  • Yu Liu 77-70-71 (T48)
  • Therese Koelbaek 72-73-74 (T55)
So you can see pretty clearly who's playing to my expectations, exceeding them, or falling below them thus far this week.  All I'll say is if Michelle Piyapapattra can shoot a 66 to get within a whisper of the top 80, Elizabeth Nagel can match her to squeak inside the top 25, and Sherman Santiwiwatthanaphong can use a 67 to invade the top 20, then any big-name player in the field can go just as low as Minjee Lee, Su-Hyun Oh, and Alison Lee have this week tomorrow!

[Update 1 (10/3/14, 7:33 pm):  Just found out on the new Seoul Sisters board that Ju Young Park is Hee Young Park's little sister!]
