I remember this song from my youth:



It's the first (and only) Japanese-language song to be a hit in America.

Thanks, Bill. The FMA told me that the singer died in a JAL plane crash sometime in the '60s (?) on a flight that that the comedian Sanma, one of the most popular and longest-running talk show hosts in Japan, would have been on if he hadn't been late. He never flew again.

The plane crashed in 1985.
