If Lexi Wins Today, Would She Be the Youngest Ever on Any Tour?
So we all know that Lexi Thompson would be the youngest winner in LPGA history by far should she beat the odds today at the Avnet LPGA Classic. But would she be the youngest ever on a major professional tour? Well, no. She's certainly younger than Ai Miyazato was when she won as a high school phenom (and amateur) at age 18 and 3 months on the JLPGA in 2003. And she's younger than the European Tour's youngest winner Matteo Manassero, who was 17 and a half at the time of his 1st victory there in 2010. But Ryo Ishikawa was 15 years and 8 months old when he made like Ai-sama and got his 1st JGTO win as a high schooler. And Seon Hwa Lee was barely 15 when she got her 1st KLPGA win way back in 2001. Sorry, Lexi, but hope this takes a little pressure off you down in Mobile!
