Sorry, was out playing golf this afternoon instead of writing about it. Starting to get the hang of the Town of Hamburg course--short, tight, with lots of trouble (almost the opposite of the Easiest Course in the World I've been playing most of the last 12 years!)--but still playing Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde golf. Was even for the middle 9 holes with 2 birdies, but started badly and finished weakly and had to settle for a 78 on a par 70. Still, it wasn't a total loss. I played with some cool people, figured out something about my wedge game, and was able to keep my mistakes less costly. The NYS Amateur qualifier in Rochester is a week away and I think I'll be ready for it by then.
Anyway, here are the results from the U.S. Women's Open sectional qualifying rounds held at Alta Mesa Country Club in Mesa, Arizona:
Qualifiers: Kyung Kim [a] (143), Betsy King (144!), Margarita Ramos [a] (146). Alternates: Manuela Carbajo Re [a] (146--lost in playoff), Anna Scott (147). Notables Who Did Not Qualify: unknown because of broken link at the Arizona Women's Golf Association.
ShopRite 1st round post coming after I finish watching the Golf Channel coverage!
