The LPGA will stage its second major championship of the year this week, with the playing of the Wegmans LPGA Championship. The last 2 years this tournament was won by huge margins. In 2010 Cristie Kerr won by 12 strokes, and in 2011 Yani Tseng finished 10 strokes ahead of the rest of the field. I don't think that will happen this year. Look for a much more competitive finish.
Here are some of the details:
Course: Locust Hill Country Club
Location: Pittsford, New York
Defending Champion: Yani Tseng
Winning Score: 66-70-67-66= 269 (-19)
Final Field: 150 Players
Par: 36-36=72
Yardage: 6506
Purse: $ 2.5 Million
My strength of field rating is 65%, making it the third-strongest field of the year. All Rolex Player of the Year points earned for this tournament will be doubled, as is the case in all major championships. The only notable missing players are Jiyai Shin and Juli Inkster, both due to injury, and Lindsey Wright.
Here are the pairings for the first 2 days.
Here is the television schedule:
Jun 7 - GC 12:00-2:30 PM EST
Jun 8 - GC 12:00-2:30 PM EST
Jun 9 - GC 2:00-7:00 PM EST
Jun 10- GC 2:00-7:00 PM EST
Rolex Ranking Mover of the Week:
Stacy Lewis moves from #7 to #3. She passes Sun Ju Ahn, Suzann Pettersen, Ai Miyazato, and Cristie Kerr. That is quite a leap.
