Stacy Lewis Leads at Halfway Point of LET's Final Event of 2013
If you want to understand why it's so tough to break into the LPGA that even bona fide LET stars have trouble doing it, check out the leaderboard of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters! Stacy Lewis shot a 65 to roar into the lead at -9 through 36 holes, 1 shot ahead of Pernilla Lindberg (67-69), 2-up on Carlota Ciganda (67-70), and 3-up on Pornanong Phatlum (68-70). What do those 4 players have in common? They're all LPGA members. Even Shanshan Feng, who suffered a little let-down following her CME Titleholders victory with an opening 76, bounced back with a 67 today to get back to -1 and pull within 2 shots of Laura Davies and Caroline Masson and 1 shot of Charley Hull and Valentine Derrey. So far, the only name I've mentioned who's not an LPGA member (or hasn't been one) is Charley Hull, she who pulled out of LPGA Q-School despite getting a waiver of the LPGA's age minimum from Commissioner Mike Whan. Maybe she knows something that is only just dawning on the rest of us: you'd better be sure you're world-class if you even want to think of trying to join the LPGA!
