Bo-Mee Lee fired a bogey-free 67 to take the 1st-round lead at the Daikin Orchid Ladies, with Ji-Hee Lee hot on her tail thanks to a bogey-free 69 of her own. Mayumi Shimomura and Onnarin Sattayabanphot join the veteran Korean star 2 shots off the lead, while Rikako Morita and fellow Japanese young gun Ritsuko Ryu are 1 shot further behind, despite a double bogey on the par-3 3rd.
There are a lot of other big names right in the thick of things, as well. Ji-Yai Shin, Momoko Ueda, Teresa Lu, Mamiko Higa, and Yumiko Yoshida lead a big group at -1, while Mika Miyazato, Mi-Jeong Jeon, Ayako Uehara, and Kumiko Kaneda are at E. Sakura Yokomine and Sun-Ju Ahn at +1 and Shiho Oyama, Miki Saiki, and Na Zhang at +2 didn't get off to quite as good starts, but they're not out of it, either. The same probably can't be said for Yuri Fudoh (+6), Shinobu Moromizato (+5), Na-Ri Kim (+5), or Soo-Yun Kang (+5).
The cut line right now is hovering around +1 or +2, so moving day tomorrow will put some pressure on some pretty prominent players. Let's see how they respond--and how the Fightin' Lees fare tomorrow!
