...at the close of the first round of the KLPGA's Sports Seoul-KYJ Golf Ladies Open, Bo-Bae Song (#2 on the JLPGA money list in 2008) is lurking. Her 70 puts her 2 shots out of the lead, 1 shot behind Sun Ju Ahn, and 4 shots ahead of Ji-Yai Shin.
...and Hyun-Ju Shin (#10 on the JLPGA money list) fired a 68 to take a 2-shot lead on her closest competitors, a 3-shot lead on Shinobu Moromizato, and a 4-shot lead on Miho Koga, Mi-Jeong Jeon, Ji-Hee Lee, and Akane Iijima at the end of the first round of the Studio Alice Ladies Open. Miki Saiki, the top-ranked player in the field, withdrew--let's hope she's not dealing with an injury. (By the way, the JLPGA has put in a link to each player's profile just about every time her name appears on the site, so it's no longer necessary to memorize hundreds of kanji to figure out the basics of what's going on there. Now if only more of the profiles were in English, too!)
With Song-Hee Kim, Inbee Park, Na Yeon Choi, and Hee Young Park near the top of the Corona Championship leaderboard, there's a decent chance for a Seoul Sisters sweep this week on the three major women's tours. (Sorry, LET, but when your Rookie of the Year is in imminent danger of missing the cut in the thinnest field of the year for the LPGA, you don't qualify as a major tour.)
[Update (4/12/08): Since Eric at Seoul Sisters has the KLPGA event covered, I'll focus on the JLPGA from here on out....]
