With the President's Cup focusing attention on the global nature of professional golf, it's worth reminding everyone that the women's game is light-years ahead of the men's when it comes to competitiveness on a planetary scale.
Shanshan Feng winning the LPGA's 1st-ever tournament in mainland China with a walkoff eagle to beat out Stacy Lewis is one of those once-in-a-lifetime storybook endings you wouldn't find plausible in a novel or movie. But it really happened!
Mika Miyazato building a big lead and going off the tracks once again in the most prestigious women's tournament in Japan, yet still finding a way to come back and win her 2nd Japan Women's Open in the last 4 years is another huge story. Only one other golfer, the legendary Hisako Higuchi, has more JWO victories than Mikan.
Overshadowed by these dramatic and historic wins was Ha Na Jang's domination of the KLPGA event this week, in which she outdistanced current Rookie of the Year favorite In Gee Chun by 4 shots. Jang already has an amazing amateur and promising professional record and her future is even brighter. Look for her to break through into star status soon!
