Mayu Hattori again finished strong to take the lead at the Stanley Ladies. Yesterday it was 4-straight birdies to end her round; today it was 2 in her last 3 holes after enduring a stretch in the middle of her round in which she made 4 bogeys and 3 birdies. The 4-time JLPGA winner's 71 opened the door to a lot of golfers, however. Sakura Yokomine fired a bogey-free 68 to move to -7, 1 shot behind Hattori, while Harukyo Nomura birdied 6 of her 1st 11 holes and ended up with a 67 that left her 2 shots off the pace, along with Teresa Lu (69), Yumiko Yoshida (70), Soo-Yun Kang (70), and Satsuki Oshiro (72).
Like Lu, Ritsuko Ryu eagled a par-5 on the front to post a 69 today, but she's still 4 behind Hattori. Money-list leader Rikako Morita is only 3 back after finishing her round with back-to-back birdies. With 20 golfers within 5 shots of the lead, anything can happen tomorrow!
