Upcoming Mostly Harmless Events: Star Wars' 30th/"Take Your Blog to the Course" Weeks

May 25th is the 30th anniversary of the first Star Wars movie (yeah, yeah, "Episode IV"). As we have a little sf thing going on here are Mostly Harmless, I'm opening up our author function that day to anyone who wants to guest-post or cross-post their entry for the Official Star Wars 30th Anniversary Carnival with us. Hey, I (kind of) mentioned this on February 3rd, so don't call "short notice" on me!

Our other event I want you all to help me publicize and execute is a series of "Take Your Blog to the Course" weeks, timed to coincide with the major events in the LPGA summer schedule that come after Annika Sorenstam and Michelle Wie are both almost certain to be back from their early-season injuries.

  • 6/25-7/1: the U.S. Women's Open ($3.1M purse, longest-running event on tour and third major of the year);
  • 7/25-8/5: the European swing to the Evian Masters ($3M purse) and the Women's British Open (last major and first time at ST. ANDREWS!);
  • 9/10-9/16: the Solheim Cup (the "women's Ryder");
  • 10/18-11/4: the Asian swing to the Hana Bank-KOLON Championship in South Korea, the Honda LPGA Thailand in (where else?) Thailand, and the Mizuno Classic in Japan (a chance for great players on the Korean, Japanese, and Asian tours to see how they match up against the LPGAers who choose to make the trip);
  • 11/12-11/19: the ADT Championship (reality-TV-friendly format: $1M to the winner, peanuts for everyone else).

So if you have a sports blog, a feminist blog, a celebrity blog, a gossip blog, a hot chix blog, an anything-I-feel-like-writing-about blog, or any other kind of blog, just pick one or more of these weeks, devote at least one post to the LPGA event(s) in it (them), and let me know that you took your blog to the course! I'll post link farms each day in these weeks featuring the posts that meet our stringent submission criteria. That is, that help bring attention to the quality of play on (and other aspects of) the LPGA Tour.
