Kojo no tsuki

An old Japanese favorite.

This next one is by me (I learned the tune from Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Thelonius Monk):

This version is by a Japanese quartet that calls itself Vanilla Mood; they seem to have a large and various repertoire that they perform in this vanilla-mood style:

This vocal version is clipped short unfortunately:

This song is known to have favorable effects on the immune system of toddlers.

One of the aftereffects of imoto's long fever is she's been sleeping a lot more than usual. Which we've enjoyed, except she usually gets it in a late afternoon nap that sometimes goes straight into nighttime sleeping and sometimes is interrupted by a quick dinner--so she gets up just as early as ever (a 6:15 start to the day is sleeping in for us). When she gets up (please, 6:30, please, 6:30!), I'll play all these for her. Thanks, Bill!

The girls liked the version by the girls the best (which is a kind way of saying the only reason we made it all the way through the vocal version was that I was changing imoto's super-poopy diaper--only got a few seconds into the first two before onechan protested). I chalk it up to their 5:55 am wake-up time and onechan's My Melody addiction. We'll try again later!

Interesting. Classical guitar is a bit intricate and fussy. Solo trumpet is both austere and excessive. But Vanilla Mood -- that's what they're about.

The vocal version is very nice, but unfortunately is cut off before the end,

Imoto walked away from the classical guitar one, but stayed for all of yours and even was smiling and dancing in the middle. Going to try the vanilla onnahito now.

Smiling and dancing -- that's what I want to hear. Was she doing the hokey pokey?

For some reason the name "Vanilla Mood" strikes me as only in Japan.
