No, this is not about my long-awaited sequel to my piece on financial apocalypse at WAAGNFNP. It's about Becky Morgan (Wales, -5 through 10 holes today; T1 at -8 for tournament), Mhairi McKay (Scotland, -5 through 15, T10 at -4, 1 behind Suzann Pettersen, who has yet to go off), Laura Davies (England, +3 through 7, still T16 at -3, though, and tied with Nina Reis, who plays in the afternoon), Sophie Gustafson (Sweden, -2 through 9, T25 at -2), and Catriona Mathews (E through 9, T25 at -2). There's more to say--Lorena has an eagle and a birdie to get to -3, Ai-chan has fallen back to -1, and Moira is +1 with three holes to go and flirting with the cut line--but imoto's fever may have peaked and soon may break, so enjoy the leaderboard until I wake up!
[Update: Well, between imoto's continuing fever and preparations to get her to the doctor and me to the conference, I can only steal a few seconds for the promised update. Here are the notes and interviews from the second round, where few could top leader Sarah Lee's 68 and many who played well yesterday fell further behind her. She has a two-shot lead on Becky Morgan going into the weekend, whose 65 tied for the best round of the day with Jimin Kang. There are a bunch of great golfers idling between 1- and 5-under. We'll see how they do on moving day tomorrow. But three relative unknowns at -7 or better--Amy Hung?!--have a great chance to distance themselves from the field tomorrow. We'll see if they take advantage. Oh, and by the way, Moira just made the cut and is playing ahead of Brittany Lang and behind Seon Hwa Lee, two super sophs having very disappointing seasons thus far. Here are the Saturday pairings--gotta run!]

After last week, the way Tiger opened at the Players, a birdie free round of a whopping 75, should he fail to make the cut (2nd time in the last decade or so??) the Colonial could pick up some much needed viewership. Root for Tiger to suck, then kick back and watch real women play.
Well they are all on course, and Jee Young Lee and Ai Miyasato are tearing it up. Lee is at -6 for the round at the 14th and Miyazato at -5 at the 15th. Sarah Lee is on course at even par, holding -11, so Jee Lee is now only two shots back, and Ai Miya is down four. Becky Morgan, paired with Sarah Lee is one under through seven, thus putting her down one at this point. Looks like it will be another close day here. Seon Hwa Lee also carded a -5 round of 66 to stay within six tied with a creme-de-la-creme Creamer, Petterson, Prammanasaudh all on course at the moment. Ochao, Park, Webb et al, either didn't make much of a run today or are simply too far back.
On the men's side of the day, Tiger shot another shitty round of over par golf, and made no move up the leaderboard on a day when no less than four other guys are currently shooting rounds at -6. These include Luke Donald, Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia, and Ted Purdy. Clark, Quinney, and Snedeker all have chances to go that low or deeper, with Mickelson teeing up in ten minutes in the final pairing. This will come down to how well he holds up.
Wow.. Jee Young Lee is tearing it up at -8 for the round and tied for the lead with Sarah Lee who is only just really getting into the middle of her round even going out. She just made the swing with Becky Morgan also even. The rest of the pack hasn't moved to much at all really, except for my previously mentioned Ai Miyazato in with a -5 and Meena Lee still on course with a -4 three holes to go. But they are three back at least.
Great day to be named Lee though. Seon Hwa a -5, Jee Young -8, Meena holding at -4, and Sarah even heading to ten.
